Despite the early heavy rain and light drizzle at the start of the session we still had 9 hardy volunteers turn out.

Firstly, we forked over and raked the small area where people had been walking to avoid the wet muddy section of path that runs alongside the wildflower area near the Sandy Lane entrance. Broxtowe Borough Council's contractors have recently repaired this section of path and following heavy rain, water is no longer pooling here. Hopefully this problem has been solved. After raking over the area new wildflower seed was sown.

We also weeded the circular areas near the Markham Rd entrance and more poppy seed was sown.

Four members spent the rest of the morning clearing the weeds from the area around the primroses and cowslips, alongside the laid hedgerow. These have grown really well in the 18 months since they were planted.

Litter picks were carried out on both reserves, and all the signs and interpretation boards were washed.
