We had nine volunteers today and the following jobs were completed:

  • A trench was dug around the wildflower area alongside Thoresby Road so the Council mowing team would be quite clear in avoiding this area. The Committee had sown fresh seed in the area a couple of weeks ago and the new seedlings were already just starting to emerge.
  • The immediate areas around the fruit trees recently planted were cleared of weeds and all have blossomed. Thanks to some of our Committee for their regular visits to keep watering them.
  • Ivy was removed from the steps leading to Thoresby Road.
  • A small section of the bridle path was cleared
  • The usual litter collection was completed on both reserves.

We also had the ‘bat group’ attend to decide on the best location for bat detectors to be installed. Three were set up.
