Here's the latest quarterly newsletter from the Friends.

Working session report September 2024 – December 2024

We have averaged 10 volunteers for most of this year which has enabled us to carry out the majority of our planned monthly work.

In September and October, we continued to clear overhanging bramble and branches from paths, also around the hazel trees and in Ivy Wood. Mud was also cleared from the bottom end of the bridle path but this really needs a more permanent solution as every time we have heavy rain this area becomes as bad again. Something to ask the Council to think about?

In November, fifteen of the twenty-two bird boxes were cleaned out and disinfected so they are ready for next year’s breeding season. The rest will be completed in December. The Green Flag Community Award notices for 2024/2025 were erected. Broom was dug out from the area around the group of heathers that have begun to establish themselves at the far end of the grassland area on the Markham Road reserve.

On all three sessions litter was collected as always.
