We are very pleased and proud to be able to announce that our two reserves have been given the Green Flag Community Award for 2013/2014. This is the fifth consecutive year we have received this award and it recognises that our sites are well-maintained and are a safe and welcoming place to visit. Only 182 Community Awards were given nationally and only 17 in the East Midlands region, so we are naturally proud of this achievement

During the last year we have continued to keep pathways clear of encroaching vegetation such as bramble, nettles etc, removed dead overhanging branches, kept the area reasonably clear of litter and dog fouling, and installed eight new steps on a pathway that had become seriously eroded.

Additionally we made and erected new bat and bird boxes and already have nine new bird boxes to erect when we do the annual clean-up of the bird boxes this coming December. The committee thanks all our members for their continuing support and also Broxtowe Borough Council for their help and advice.

The Friends are always looking for extra pairs of hands to help out or to simply support their work, so...
